It was the big day. At 3:15am the clock rang. After we fixed everything and put it to the car we went to the lobby of the Best Western. At 4am there should be coffee and some snacks. But there was nothing. The responsible person of the previous day did not forward the information. So we went back to the car, took out the kitchen box again and fixed some breakfast by ourselves. At 4:45am we went towards beach (corner Pacific Avenue and Magnolia Street). Most of us took the car. The Japanese runners ran the way and used it as a warm up. At the start there was also David Warady and some of his friends. After everybody took some photos there was the start at 5:30am. David gave the signal. Normally it will be depending on the seconds on the clock, but here we did something special. We waited for the next green of the light.

When we started it became brighter. Today we already got the first taste of the long straights. It was not possible to look all way and the straights also where just some kilometers. But people got already problems here should will have a lot of fun soon. The annoying things were the lights today. It was always a stop and go. When we left the suburb of Los Angeles the first 30km are done. Now we went on the biking trail. Peter Bartel did not like the idea of changing to the biking trail. He stayed on the street and went wrong. The biking trail went more and more into the Canyons. The first hills where surrounding us. With the biking trail also the course began to climb up. But it also got more beautiful. On the left and the right side there were hills. Between us and the highway there was the Santa Ana River, which comes from the mountains. We ran through the Yorba Regional Park, the Featherly Regional Park and the Canyon River Park. They leaded us up to Norco. In the end we finished at the Regency Inn in Norco.

The “big surprise” brought the weather. AT the beginning it was still cool. After 15 kilometers it started to rain slightly. How to get used to the hot temperatures? The rain stopped soon and at about 11am the sun brake through. With her the temperatures started to rise. At that time I already had finished the stage. But the other runners had to fight against the heat.

After a drink at the finish line I checked in and had a shower. While I was having a shower our supporter June prepared some food. After the snack I had a short sleep. After the sleep we went out for shopping. Some new food had to be bought.
