It was also cloudy at the second day during the first kilometers. You could thought the weather got like the previous day. But already a few kilometers later the sun brake through. With the sun the heat came. When I checked at a thermometer it had 38°C at about 1pm. It was the first pre taste for the following days. Shadow was just an imagination. If there is nothing to make shadow, there can not be any shadow.

Just after the start the field of runners spread. After a few kilometers I left the little group and ran by myself. It was hard to get lost today. Especially it was just straight during the first 20 kilometers. If you had a look to the altitudes you get an idea what will go on. According to it we just have to go upwards. We started at about 200m altitudes and went up to 1250m altitudes. After about 45 kilometers we hit the old Route 66. Now there was less traffic. Even it was nice to run on it through the canyon. But there was one big problem on this route. Suddenly it just stopped. Because of the new I15 highway the route had to been demontated, because of the new bridge above the river bed. Because we can not simply run on the highway there was only one way. Laure called it the Indiana Jones Trail. It was on the sand and stones of the river bed. Already before the trail we saw the first snow mountain. Do we also have to cross some snow fields? Well, let surprise ourselves! Right now we had to get trough the bushes. Laures Team had done very good work. They marked the trail very well. After about one kilometer everything was done and we got back on the road. On the road we went upwards to the second trail. The ground of this trail was much better to run on. In the end we got on the road to Hesperia. There where only four kilometers left.

When Laure checked the split times she already figured out, that some runners are to slow. Will they arrive before the time limit? WE will see. But maybe there is a way to give some extra time, because of the bad conditions.
