At 4:45am everybody met in front of the motel, without two. Peter and Anneke were allowed to start half an hour later. The runners should start at 5am because of the weather broadcast. There was only one turn today. Still Laure told us to be very careful. Most time there is no side lane. It will be a very curvaceous hill road. So there was almost no way to avoid.

When we started it was dark and cool. After two hours it started to warm up and I can run without jacket. During the first 40 kilometers there was only uphill. AS more we went up as more trees and wood was there. When we arrived at the highest point with more than 2400m altitudes we had a gorgeous panorama. After that we went mainly downhill till we arrived at the camping site in Abiquiu Lake. On both sides where were hills. Also there were a lot of rock constellations. We were almost at the bottom when we passed Coyote. There was also a gas station with a funny coyote sign. I took a picture and used the break to get an ice cream. Then I continued some more uphill. On the top I can see already the Abiquiu Lake. There was the finish of our stage. At the beginning the plan was to camp there, but because of the bad weather they changed to motel. So we had to drive there. The lake was used as an accumulation lake. When I arrived at the dam it started to rain. It was just two kilometers before the finish line. Well, if I had not dallied so much during running… Before I finished it also stopped to rain. Short but heavy! When I arrived at the finish Dave, Peter, June, one of Alexandro’s supporters and Dan waited already. Dan was Markus supporter and had a relaxed day. Yesterday Markus wife Brandi and his new supporter Klaus arrived.

There were not many news on the course. James did not feel better. You can see the tiredness and stress in his face. There is not much to see from the smiling face at the beginning of the race. As Laure told me he did not find his formula. He still trying to find the right food and drinks his body can support. So he had stomach problems day after day and no energy left. Also Bando did not feel better. He was trying to speed in the morning, but have to slow down soon again. Also he is not joking anymore. Alexandro looks much better. He stays very constant. Also Makoto, Serge and Patrick ran very constant. Makoto runs slow, but it seems with a lot of fun. Patrick still plays the game with Italo. But Italo had to fight today with problems. At the beginning he was fast, but already during first half of the day he had to slow down. It seems his knee makes more problems. Jenni and Markus are running again every day. If there would not be the problems at the beginning they could have been at midfield.
