When I saw Laure this morning for the first time she treated me that the prestage meeting will not be very friendly. She had a few points about the security on her list. Also there would be the first penalty during this race. Before Laure spoke, the authorized for sports from Joplin said some words. Peter gave him our small donation for the school of Joplin. Also somebody from the local press was there. After that Laure talked about the security rules and the attitude at the road. Yoshimi was already out of the ranking and continued as a stage runner. He had to stop for one week running. René saw him yesterday in the middle of the road. The normal treatment would be a completely stop for him, because he is only stage runner. But as so often before, Laure turned a blind eye. The first official penalty was given to James. Yesterday Laure had cached him herself in the middle of the road. She mentioned that she will be much stronger about these penalties. She asked to often to run on the left side, wear security jacket and a lamp at the morning. Also she mentioned that we have to carry a turn sheet. There was no excuse that somebody could not read it without glasses. Who needs such help should carry glasses with him. Also the objection of Serge (her husband), that the organization should put marking at every turn did not help. The rules tell there will be no marking at all. He got lost two days ago. Laure was very angry about that. Especially because his supporter was not at the turn and Serge did not carry a turn sheet. At the end there was the group photo and the start. At the photo there was also the authorized for sports.

There was not much to say about the course today. It was almost 85 kilometers just straight. Well, it looked like at the map. In reality there were some small curves and a turn. Before we arrived at the Ramada Inn we had to absolve some ground waves. This morning it was very comfortable. There was almost no humidity and it was cool. At noon it was getting very warm again. So we were lucky, when we arrived at the finish.
