48. stage at 08/05/2011 from Hannibal, MO to Pittsfield, IL, (day: 47.2miles / overall.: 2141miles)
This morning Alexandro got his first warning. It was because he was supported at the Interstate. Even it was not allowed as the turnsheet, the signing on the road told and it was mentioned at the prestage meeting. Laure said also, that there will be no signs today. There were a few turns at the beginning and one after 54 kilometers. At the beginning there will be somebody from the organization, so nobody can get lost. At the end of Hannibal we went again on the Interstate. It brought us above the Mississippi and also the next State boarder. We had finished Missouri and were now in Illinois. We did not stay a long time there and it started to do some rain drops. Not much later it started to rain. Between it stopped, but before I arrived at the finish I was wet again. Even there was rain it had still about 30°C (85°F). Also the rain did not feel cold. So it was not too bad. The landscape of today with all the corn fields and wooden covered hills remembered me to Foglizzo. I was doing there for a 4-day walking since years. The finish of today was next to the Illinois River. We have to cross it tomorrow at the beginning. Sadly it was again at the night. So you can not see a lot. There was a constructive interesting bridge. It can be opened at the middle, so ships can pass trough. Next to the finish line there was a small bar. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Because there was no coffee available we could use our own water cooker to boil water for noodles and coffee.
