When we had the 30 kilometer long drove from the motel to the start line we could see a wonderful lightning show at a far distance. It seemed the thunderstorm had taken over the whole horizon. Even when the sun already had rose up it was possible to see the lightning. The noises belonging to the lightning you did not hear. At the start Laure let two people tell their wishes. Makoto preferred to start later. He thinks it will be more save and the runners do not need to wear a safety jacket. Also we sweet less, then the humidity were lower and there was no heating accumulation from the jacket. Serge thought it would not be necessary to carry a camelbak or water anymore. He thinks we are back in civilization and have plenty of chances to go to a shop. He told that he was running without liquid in his camelbak for more than two weeks and Laure knows about it. Both should be discussed by the runners and we the decision should be told tomorrow morning. After that Laure mentioned that runners had to stop and go to the car, if the weather is too bad. They have to wait there till the weather is better and then remain running.

After the start all runners had to stay together. We had to pass the bridge above the Illinois together. In front and behind us was one support car. Then we continued on our own parallel to the lightning show. On the left side we can see the red of the morning and the sun rose slowly. On the right side there were plenty of lightning. The temperatures were quiet nice and also the humidity was not too high. After we had done half way we went trough Jacksonville. There we had our motel last night. We continued through the corn- and soya fields till New Berlin. There we had a mass accommodation. It looked like it will rain for a long time, but we got only a few drops.

I almost passed the finish line of today. It was just next to the auction court. There people bet for farming machines. It had a lot of people over there. Also the banners for the finish were not next to the street. But Laure whistled just in time. After we had fixed everything for the night my friend Sarah and I went to Springfield to do a permanent trail. Abraham Lincoln had lived there and his grave was there. Springfield was the capital from Illinois. So we can see the State-Capitol as well. Besides that there were other things to see. After I returned I had some talking and discussions depending on both questions of this morning.
