At the morning all people came quiet late for the prestage meeting. Laure mentioned that we will start tomorrow at 5:30am new time. New time means after changing the clock one hour further. When we pass the boarder to the next State there will be also a new time zone. AT Oklahoma will be no shoulder anymore. So we should be very careful. Laure mailed the course change yesterday evening. The stages with more than 90 kilometers were shorted. On the other hand the other stages were longer now. Oh by the way, I almost forgot we got a guest. The reporter of yesterday was present at the start and made some pictures. Also after we started he followed us for a while.

It was a good time to make pictures, because the sun was just rising when we started. Well, actually you can not call it running. It looked like nobody wanted to start and all of us walked slowly after the start. After 20 kilometers we arrived at the boarder. The moment had to be recorded. June, Bertrand and I took some photos. Then I continued. About one kilometer later a truck stopped. The sun was behind him, so I only can see two people were getting out. I could guess who had arrived! It was Russell with his wife. They had mentioned to come over and meet us. They went up and down at the course, cheered up the runners and gave them cool drinks. As Laure told us there was not much to see. There were cow range and corn fields. Between there were the farms belonging to them. Even it was an up and down always, the hills were smaller. Therefore there were long straight roads without any curves.

When I finished I do not have a lot of time to stay. We had to longer our contract for our rental car. Every 30 days we had to go to one of the offices. As we figured out National Car had given us wrong information. I think they told me about a Boise City at another State. Today when I called them again, I almost got a tantrum. Since the beginning we had problems with the rental. First they made a wrong contract. Then we had an oil change light after we just had driven 20 kilometers. We fixed the problem with the contract and changed the car. So the second car got also an oil change light after just 200 kilometers. In my opinion they do a very exemplary service of the cars. When I called them again they told me to go to a garage to let the oil change done myself. When we return the car I should give them the receipt. Let’s see if it works. When I called them today to ask for a close office they told me I have to return the car tomorrow in Los Angeles. They also told me they can not tell me a close station. Return the car even they had fixed the error at the contract? Well, in the end they told me to contact Los Angeles office directly. They had given us the car and there the “evil” started. The lady at LA office told me she will mail the extension of the contract and I should sign it and mail it back. It can be so easy?! Still I can not advice National Car.
