At the morning there were two prestage meetings and two starts. Yesterday night we got the choice between a 5am or 5:30am start. It was because of the long stage of today. Without four people everybody liked to start early. At the beginning of the meeting Laure told us about attitude rules. Mainly it was about the accommodation in gyms and the rubbish. After that she told us to pay attention at the first 30 kilometers. There was road work going on. It should not be a problem for the runners, but for the supporters. They can not stop all the time.

Today’s course brought us back to 2100m altitudes. And there were the usual up and downs. The landscape got more and more hilly. There were more trees and we had a lot of beautiful panorama views. When I stopped the first time for drinking a street worker car stopped besides. One of the workers told me, that there will be a “pilot car”. It will guide the cars through the construction area. When it reached the other side it will turn and go back. The runners had to be careful not to run on the new asphalt. It will be hot and the shoes will melt. But just next to the road there is a flatted area. So we can run on it. Well, I think every normal human will think and not run on the hot asphalt. But still it was a nice move. It showed that they are concerned about the security of the runners. I gave the information to the following cars and then ran through the construction area. When I ran trough it there are no hot asphalt areas and it was no problem to cross it. After that there was a long downhill. At the bottom there was a gas station. It was half way and it was a good time to get an ice cream. After that we continued trough the canyon. In the end there was another uphill to Cuba. As in the beginning some dogs ran behind me. As I heard later also other runners were followed by dogs. It is one of the moments you get afraid. Just a little bad luck and you are out of the race and into the next hospital. But everything went out ok. Just before the city a truck passed me. A man cheered me and called my name. A very seldom moment! When I passed the city boarder it started to rain. Big rain drops hit down and a strong wind showed up. Because it was quiet warm, it was not so bad. And the wind was from behind and pushed me towards the finish line – nice!

After I had arrived at the finish Laure, June, Peter and I were sitting together. Laure told me that there was a man asking for James. He read at the internet about the race and was enthused. And then he arrived. It was the same cheering me from the car. He was here for his job. He helped the fire fighters with the fight against the forest fires. He used that chance to visit us. I was not long sitting at the finish line when the rain stopped. But Laure told me that we will start tomorrow already at 5am, because of the weather broadcast of the following days. The beautiful times are finished. Heavy thunderstorms were broadcasted for the afternoon.

As it looks like two fights for the placement started. Bando is trying to get away from the last place. He tries to catch Makoto. And Italo is trying to get Patrick out of reserve. He took again ten minutes today. But he also has to cool his leg. It seems his left leg is not happy about his running wishes. Especially between Italo and Patrick it is going to be interesting. I think it is too early to look on the placement. Patrick would be better if he just ran his own pace and do not fight for daily placement. Italo would be better to stay cool and take more care about his body.
